Bearly in the Mountains (bearlyinthemountains.com) is a private booking site that lets family, friends, and church members request stays at The Falk Family's vacation home. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile phone number, and password (stored only in encrypted form).
- Optional profile details: mailing address and an emergency contact, if you choose to add them.
- Booking details: your dates, party size, trip purpose, arrival time, vehicles, and any notes you send the family.
- Reviews: ratings and comments you submit after a stay.
- Basic technical data: your IP address when you sign in, used only to protect accounts from repeated failed sign-in attempts.
How we use it
- To create your account and let you request, view, and cancel stays.
- To let the host family review and respond to your requests.
- To send booking emails and, if you opt in, booking text messages.
- To keep the site secure.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Text messages (SMS)
Texts are optional. You choose to receive them by checking the text message box when you create your account or in your profile. If you opt in, we send booking-related texts only: request received, approved or declined, cancellations, and arrival reminders. We never send marketing texts.
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Your phone number is shared only with the text messaging provider that delivers our messages, and only for that purpose.
Reply STOP to any text to stop receiving them, or turn texts off in your profile. Reply HELP for help. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. See our Terms for full text message terms.
Who can see your information
- The host family (site administrators) can see your account, booking, and review details so they can manage stays.
- Service providers who run the site for us: our web hosting provider, our email delivery system, and our text messaging provider. They use your information only to provide those services.
- Only your first name, last initial, and review text appear publicly, and only if the family publishes your review.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and booking history while your account is active so the family can see past stays. You can ask us to delete your account and information at any time.
Your choices
- Update your details anytime on your Profile page.
- Turn text messages on or off in your profile, or reply STOP.
- Ask us to delete your account by emailing stay@bearlyinthemountains.com.
Security
The site uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are stored as one-way encrypted hashes, and the street address and house access details are shown only to confirmed guests shortly before their stay.
Children
Accounts are for adults. Children may be included in a booking, but we do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18.
